中南大学建筑与艺术学院于2011年4月25日正式组建，由原土木建筑学院建筑与城市规划系与艺术学院合并而成，是集教学科研、设计实践、艺术创作与社会服务于一体的新型学院。学院始终秉承“大艺术、大设计、大创意”办学理念，恪守“厚德尚美、经世励新”院训，依托中南大学综合办学优势，全力打造特色鲜明、内涵深厚、实力卓越的学科高地与一流育人阵地。学院现任党委书记为柯朝晖，院长为石磊。

The School of Architecture and Art at Central South University was formally established on April 25, 2011, through the merger of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning (formerly under the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture) and the School of Art. As a modern institution that integrates teaching, scientific research, design practice, artistic performance, and social service, the School adheres to the educational philosophy of "Grand Art, Grand Design, and Grand Creativity," with "Cultivating Virtue and Beauty for Practicality and Innovation" as its guiding motto. Based on the comprehensive academic strengths of Central South University, the School undertakes to construct a high-level disciplinary and educational hub with distinct characteristics, profound substance, and strong abilities. The current Party Secretary of the School is Ke Zhaohui, and the Dean is Shi Lei.

学院下设建筑系、城乡规划系、设计系、音乐与舞蹈系、美术系5个专业系。拥有低碳健康建筑湖南省重点实验室、湖南省科普基地等5个省部级科研平台，设有中南大学健康建筑研究中心、当代东方艺术研究中心、艺术人类学研究中心、城市更新研究中心等10余个校级高水平研究机构。学院现有建筑学、城乡规划、艺术与科技、音乐表演、舞蹈表演5个本科专业，其中4个专业入选国家一流本科专业建设点。拥有设计学一级学科博士点，艺术哲学、土木建筑与规划设计2个二级学科博士点，建筑学、设计学2个一级学科硕士点，以及建筑、设计、音乐、城市规划4个专业学位硕士点，构建起本硕博完整人才培养体系。

The School comprises 5 professional departments: Architecture, Urban and Rural Planning, Design, Music and Dance, and Fine Arts. It hosts 5 provincial and ministerial research platforms, including the Hunan Provincial Key Laboratory of Low-Carbon Healthy Buildings and the Hunan Provincial Science Popularization Base, as well as over 10 university-level high-level research institutions, such as the Center for Health Building Research of Central South University, the Center for Contemporary Oriental Art Research, the Center for Art Anthropology, and the Center for Urban Renewal. The School offers five undergraduate majors: Architecture, Urban and Rural Planning, Art and Technology, Music Performance, and Dance Performance, four of which are designated as National First-Class Undergraduate Major Construction Sites. It also has a first-level doctoral program in Design, two second-level doctoral programs in Philosophy of Art, Civil Architecture and Planning Design, two first-level master's programs in Architecture and Design, and four professional master's degree programs in Architecture, Design, Music, and Urban Planning, thus establishing a complete talent cultivation system which spans from undergraduate to doctoral levels.

学院师资力量雄厚，现有教职工135人，其中国家级人才3人，教授26人、副教授42人。配备博士生导师22人、硕士生导师58人、兼职导师89人，形成结构合理的师资队伍。现有在校学生1800余人，其中本科生1300余人，研究生近500人。已累计为国家和社会输送各类专业人才10000余名。

The School maintains a robust faculty of 135 staff members, including 3 national-level talents, 26 professors, and 42 associate professors. There are 22 doctoral supervisors, 58 master’s supervisors, and 89 adjunct supervisors, forming a well-structured teaching team. Over 1,800 students are currently enrolled in the School, including more than 1,300 undergraduates and nearly 500 postgraduates. To date, the School has produced over 10,000 graduates in various specialties for the nation and society.

学院坚持产学研融合发展，产出一大批高水平科研与艺术成果。同时不断深化国际交流和人才联合培养，与美国、英国、德国等20余所海外高水平大学、科研院所建立了稳定的合作关系。

The School is committed to the integrated development of production, education, and research, and has generated a wealth of high-level research and artistic achievements. At the same time, for the purpose of deepening international exchanges and joint talent cultivation, it has established stable partnerships with more than 20 overseas universities and research institutions in countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany.

面向未来，学院将紧扣国家战略与地方发展需求，立足中南大学“双一流”建设，凝心聚力、提质增效，全力推动学科建设与人才培养高质量发展。

Looking ahead, the School will focus on national strategies and local development needs, and contribute to the "Double First-Class" construction of Central South University. With unity and determination, it will enhance quality and efficiency, and strive to promote the high-quality development of its disciplines and talent cultivation.
